BBS and JBS two sides of same coin – Dilan

The Bodhu Bala Sena (BBS) and Jathika Bala Sena (JBA) organizations are two sides of the same coin, inciting racial and religious hatred in the country through hate speech, according to Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare, Dilan Perera.

Expressing his views to Ceylon Today, Minister Perera said that the BBS as well as the JBS were in fact organizations dancing to the tune of Western powers under a facade of quasi patriotism.

“Whether the Bodhu Bala Sena gets Dollars or Pounds, or the Jathika Bala Sena gets Dinars and Riyals, both these organizations are two sides of the same coin. They are on a contract for UN Human Rights Chief Navaneetham Pillay. On one side we have Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga writing reports saying there is no religious reconciliation in Sri Lanka. On the other side we have Navi Pillay, prying on Sri Lanka.

The conduct of these two organizations and their actions serves one purpose and one purpose only; that is to substantiate and corroborate the statements of former President Chandrika Kumaratunga and UN Human Rights Chief Navi Pillay. If these organizations are genuinely patriotic, they would not attempt to destroy the peace and harmony in the country. The bombs of the LTTE did not discriminate between the Sinhala and Muslim people. What they are trying to do is destroy the hard won peace of this country,” Minister Perera said.

He added that within a democratic frame work any organization was free to express their views but said that an end should be put to hate speech.

“Any organization has the right to express their views and we have a right to counter those views within a democratic country. But what the BBS and the JBS are doing cannot be depicted as an expression of views. It is hate speech that they are propagating. This trend should be brought to a halt,” the Minister told Ceylon Today.
