Hon. Dilan Perera, Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare met the HE Ms Orit Noked, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Israel on 05th May 2011 at the Ministry Office. HE Ms. Orit Noked was accompanied by Dr. ( Mrs) Taniv Rophe , Director General , Mr. Itzak Ben David , Director General , HE Mr. Mark Sofer , Israel Ambassador Sri Lanka and a large business delegation from Israel.

The Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare has close relations with the Israel Ministry of Agriculture. Over 300 Sri Lankans are working in Israel in the agriculture sector, whose availability in Israeli was facilitated by an inter-governmental agreement. Hon. Dilan Perera used this opportunity to discuss the expansion of the numbers in the agricultural field and, also broached, new areas of employment, like Care givers, Construction Workers.

A number of returnee Sri Lankan agricultural workers were also present to meet HE Orit Noked. One gave a fluent speech in Hebrew. All agreed that Israeliā€™s were notable farmers and expressed an unanimous desire to return on a further contract. HE Orit Noked expressed satisfaction with the quality of work of the Sri Lankan worker and was supportive of increase in their numbers and widen the catchment for further employment.

The meeting was held in an extremely cordial atmosphere and, at its conclusion HE Orit Noked extended an invitation to Hon. Dilan Perera to visit Israeli.
